Community Public Tours

These tours are offered on a limited basis.

LIGO Livingston in Louisiana offers guided tours on a limited basis for community and special interest groups.

If your group has fewer than 20 people, we invite you to visit during our Science Saturdays—held on the first Saturday of every month. No tour request is needed for these public days.

For those submitting tour requests for groups larger than 20 people, please submit the request at least two weeks in advance of your desired tour date, and we will get back to you.  Unfortunately we cannot honor all requests.

Time:  Tours typically take 1 1/2 - 2 hours.

Cost:  There is no cost (yes, the tours are free)

Lunches:  We have no facilities to buy lunches on-site, but if you are coming around lunch time, you are welcome to bring your lunch and eat it outside at our pavilion.

REQUIREMENTS:

  • Vehicles MUST REMAIN ON SITE DURING THE TOUR.  LIGO Livingston is in a remote location & we are sensitive to vibrations due to traffic. For the safety of the visitors and in order to keep LIGO's instrument working well, visitors are not allowed to be dropped off for a tour.
